From all that I have been able to read about Cascade Game Foundry, it looks like they have two things in the pipeline. I can't tell which will be released first, the smoke or the mirrors.

Say, your new Silver Cloud site looks great! It's a big improvement over the old one. The Gladiator is a fine looking steed as well.

Hey, that Gladiator is looking good! Simon's skills just keep improving, don't they?

I've been flying around Emma Field X this morning, just enjoying the fact that I'm the only person on Earth who can say that. Hmmm... it's kind of fun... maybe I'll just keep it to myself as my own private Olympic hideaway. heh.

>But maybe we are going back to the good old days when there >was a much smaller, but more tight community of >flightsimmers. That wouldn’t be all bad, now would it?

I think it is a good thing. Over the life of FS9, all too many people built unattainable goals for themselves and for developers. Those people are now quitting in frustration because their goals will never be met. With FSX we have a "final" version that is just now maturing. Those who still expect their unrealistic demands to be fulfilled are doomed to disappointment and will slowly fade away. Those who understand the limits of the sim and the possibilities for enjoyment will be around for a long time. Look at Train Sim. Despite tooz manyz versionz of Trainz and despite that other train thing, even after 9 years and despite the long grey beard, MSTS is still number one as a train sim. The same will always be true for FS9 and Golden Wings and for FS9 and Bus Drivers. Look at the freeware airline traffic for FS9. Superior in every way to payware that tries to be all things to all simmers. The tube flyers have also answered the whine "Why can't Microsoft make good ATC?" by taking VATSIM to new heights.

Similar ideas are now beginning to bear fruit in FSX as developers are learning the secrets and using them to good advantage while at the same time, the hardware is catching up. The FS future is bright indeed.

So, I say to those who are leaving a hobby that they never understood, "don't let the door hit you in the a** on the way out."

All these years in FS and magazines have never held any appeal for me. There is always too much about commercial jets and never enough about GA. No matter how detailed or how accurate or how carefully written or how gorgeously illustrated, I will never have any use for an article about the 737. To interest me enough to subscribe, an FS magazine would need to be 105% General Aviation and then, of course, nobody else would buy it.
Still it is sad to see so many FS related things wither and die.
